The Speed of Sound in Seawater

“We’ll name our own constellations.”

It’s nice when a band comes out of nowhere. No pretense, no preceding reputation.  I’m happy to be enthralled simply because I am, not because someone else recommended that I should be.  A chance download of the new EP from The Speed of Sound in Seawater has shattered all expectations.  In a genre that can be very hit or miss, they’ve captivated me with their math-pop chops.  While I have been a deep-digging math rock fan for years, the four young guys from Sacramento have already made a quick jump to nearly top of the list.  The band has most of their catalogue available for FREE on Bandcamp.  Track below is taken from the most recent EP, Underwater We Tell Eachother Secrets.
