Brother, “Darling Buds of May”

“And when you walk, I feel so much better now.”

Despite the fact that newish Slough four piece Brother have been seriously lambasted by some notable indie rags (see this article from the Quietus) and seemingly lauded by the mainstream press (on NME’s Ones To Watch for 2011), I’m not about to pretend that I haven’t been enjoying this track.  Perhaps its because I have long listened to some of band’s previous incarnations such as Kill the Arcade and Wolf Am I.  Wolf Am I released their debut as early recently as 2009, and the band’s swift transition from teen punk purveyors to their new Brit-pop schtick may seem to some a bit contrived.  But who am I to speak about anyone else’s intentions?  The band will tour the UK throughout the month of February before jumping on as support for the Street through mid March.  You will probably see me there – whether hiding sheepishly in a corner at the Borderline or singing along to every note, I haven’t quite decided…
