Portland’s Ugly Colors had been on my radar for a while thanks to a tip from a friend of mine. Even months before the album came out, I was hearing nothing but just-you-wait’s and you-won’t-even-believe-it’s. The band’s instrumentation is intensely technical, and the songwriting is remarkably cerebral.
