“You walk as well as any diplomat I’ve seen.”
Finally, it happened, and I couldn’t be more happier. The band never officially disbanded, so I’d be incorrect to call it a reunion. It certainly feels that way, though. Former Minneapolis cult favorite, which includes front-man James Diers and drummer Dave King or new local cult favorite Halloween, Alaska, the Love-Cars got together this weekend at West Bank’s Triple Rock Social Club to play to a packed house of long-time fans and newcomers alike. Fans got hear one new track in addition to the smattering of old favorites from the band’s three full length albums, the last of which was released back in 2002. The band didn’t play my hands-down all time favorite track, which is included below, but I can still say that this “reunion” will be a 2010 music highlight of mine. I’ve only seen Diers play three or four times up to this point, but he seemed his usually quiet and enigmatic self, minus the comical breakdown of goofy merch table items. You can read my additional coverage, which has amassed over the past four or five years, of Diers and crew here, here, here and here – for good measure.
